What do you suggest to help improve mental health treatment from providers, the government, or anyone else?

  1. People with mental illnesses usually have a whole family of problems living with them. It is a problem of family dynamics to help each one, and sometimes it helps if at least that person can recognize the difference between themselves and each member of their family, or else all these problems become enmeshed together. It would be good if the whole family was able to get involved with treatment rather than just the one who is diagnosed. It would be awesome if the government would sponsor an anti-stigma campaign that supports families that support each other. For instance, let's say NAMI's family to family class would offer any family who was able to bring in every member of their nuclear family into classes, completing each of their twelve sessions, offering the whole family a certificate and an award from the community, whatever that community is willing to commit. Maybe that would be a key from the city, or a photograph of the family on a wall of town hall. I think that essentially, every family, no matter how big or how small can be a key part of every person's vitality, and positive steps to changing the relationships within are going to be their own reward, but that this can be honored by the community at large as well.
